Cattle– 505
Inverell reduced numbers by 385 to 505 mixed cattle. Less numbers precluded some exporters from competition however other regular operators attended to result in a firm to dearer trend for most categories with an emphasis on yearling heifers. Steer calves under 200kgs lwt sold to 196c/kg and the heifer portion to 150c/kg. Better bred light heifer weaners were up to 29c/kg dearer to restockers. Dearer trends for light feeder steers which were 5c/kg better whereas drafts of light plainer steers were significantly cheaper to backgrounders 164c to 220c/kg. Medium yearling feeder steers sold to a rise of 7c/kg. Yearling heifers to background much dearer 100c to 200c/kg. Medium weights substantially dearer to 204c/kg while heavy yearling trade heifers sold to 232c/kg. Grown heifers sold to 206c/kg to feed on and heavy heifers to the trade 172c to 215c/kg. Medium weight cows were 4c/kg better and heavy cows firm to 11c/kg dearer.

Yarding– 1399 Lambs– 1113 Sheep– 286
Inverell penned 1399 sheep and lambs with 1113 lambs and 286 grown sheep. All regular buyers attended including a major operator returning from maintenance at their facility. Trends were generally dearer for both grown sheep and lambs. Limited young lambs sold to $119/head. Light lambs to the trade made $53 to $84/head to be $5/head better. Trade lambs considerably dearer up to $11/head. Heavy trades $122 to $129/head and heavy lambs also to dearer trends making $138/head. Extra heavy lambs were $32/head dearer topping at $164/head. Heavy hoggets $54/head. Heavy Dorper ewes were up to $21/head dearer and made to $36/head. Heavy cross bred ewes were $8/head dearer and Merino wethers sold to $32/head.
