Cattle - 1075

Except for a few categories Inverell saw cheaper trends for the most part of the penning of 1075 head. Regular buyers attended and operated with reduced competition on yearlings and cows however stronger trends resulted in the sales of heavy grown processor heifers.  Steer weaners slipped 22c/kg to sell 360c to 428c/kg and the heifer drafts to 314c/kg all to restockers. Light steers to background considerably cheaper with plainer types a factor. Light feeder steers slipped 21c/kg and medium feeders also cheaper 328c to 362c/kg. Yearling heifers took on similar trends although light heifers to restock were firm and topped at 318c/kg. Medium feeders were back 4c/kg 276c to 308c/kg.  Heavy heifers to process were 17c/kg dearer to sell to 288c/kg. Cows were cheaper by 5c to 10c/kg with heavy cows selling 230c to 246c/kg.

Light lambs to restockers was a popular choce with drafts going South and others to feed on but there was also local content in the mix. Dorper lambs appeared to be the breed of choice to some of the restocker demand. Trends for processor lambs was softer with the regular buyers attending to 1751 lambs and 1012 sheep numbers down slightly on a fortnight ago.  Dorpers to restockers sold to much dearer trends $46 to $88/head while the crossbred drafts  reached $102/head. Trade lambs sold $131 to $140/head and heavy trades $138 to $148/head. Extra heavy lambs sold to significant discounts $176  to $186/head. Hoggets sold to firm trends and made to $100/head.  A mixed sheep offering resulted in cheaper trends throughout the offering with loses of $17 to $40/head. Light ewes $20 to $41/head and heavier drafts $42 to $70/head. Wethers sold to $38/head and cull rams to $42/head.
