Cattle – 580
Inverell reduced numbers considerably to 580 head with cows most affected decreasing over 1000 head. The regular buyers attended although not all exporters operated. It was a mixed quality offering with secondary cattle varying the trends. Weaner steers to restockers were significantly dearer up to 49c/kg. A lapse of quality through the heifer drafts saw cheaper trends of 8c/kg. Light feeder steers resulted in cheaper trends of 43c/kg quality again a major factor. Conversely medium weight feeders sold to favourable results of 13c/kg to top at 360c/kg. Quality lapsed once more with sales of light background steers trends slipping 24c/kg. Light heifer sales to background interests were dearer and improved 18c/kg as did the feeder results for similar weights which were 15c/kg dearer. Medium weight feeder heifers sold to negative trends of 12c/kg. No numbers for grown steers or heifers for a reliable quote. Restockers were competitive for medium cows to sell to rises of 15c/kg. Conversely heavy weight cows were cheaper with processing drafts back 4c/kg 166c to 210c/kg heavy restockers slipping 7c/kg. The best of the bull section sold to 248c/kg.
