Cattle– 915
Inverell penned 915 mixed quality cattle which was a reduction of 262 from last sale. Young cattle dominated the offering which included a very good penning of heavy cows. An extra cow buyer attended with the usual buying group and that resulted in a much dearer trend through the heavy cows. Attention was also paid to heavy feeder heifers. Light weaner steers sold to dearer trends and purchased by restockers. Weaner heifers to feed on also sold to a dearer trend. Trends improved for light yearling steers to feed with this category selling to 350c/kg. Medium weights to feed saw a considerable improvement in trends 314c to 350c/kg. Both heavy weight steers and heifers to feed on a short term basis sold to a dearer trend with steers making to 328c/kg and the heifer portion to 274c/kg. Heavy grown steers made to 270c/kg and heifers sold for 274c/kg to processors. Extra cow competition caused the medium cow market to improve. The main thrust however was for the heavy cows with that category selling 190c to 228c/kg.
