Cattle– 923

Inverell penned 923 head which was 417 cattle less than last sale. Yearling cattle provided the bulk of the penning and there was a good  quality offering of heavy cows. The regular processors attended with all the other feeders and backgrounders competing through the offering. There were drafts of crop assisted cattle marketed early with dry conditions continuing.  Light weaner steers were considerably cheaper for restocker purchases with a lapse of quality in some drafts. Conversely the heifer drafts sold to rises of 4c/kg to backgrounders and 25c/kg to feeders. Yearling steers were cheaper in the main although  feeder steers in the 280 to 330 kgs liveweight category only marginally so 276 to 350c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed up to 30c/kg cheaper 220 to 310c/kg. Light heifers to feed were 4c/kg dearer and yearling feeder heifers in excess of 480kgs liveweight sold to dearer trends 272 to 280c/kg.  Limited grown heifers to process were cheaper 230 to 258c/kg. Medium weight cows sold 110 to 150c/kg. Heavy four score cows were 3c/kg dearer selling 205 to 219/kg. Heavy bulls marginally cheaper 192 to 258c/kg. 

Sheep 

Yarding–  3858 Lambs– 2858 Sheep– 1000

Inverell penned 3858 sheep and lambs comprising 2858 lambs and 1000 grown sheep similar to two weeks ago. It was a very good offering of heavy lambs. Included in the penning was a large offering of well finished Merino lambs with all of that draft going to the processor.The results of the heavy sheep all sold to processors and the light sheep competed for and won by restockers. Trends were cheaper for all categories.  Light Merino and Dorper lambs were purchased for the paddock making $35 and $30/head respectively. There were big lines of Merino ewe lambs to $54/head. Trade lambs to much cheaper trends selling to $55/head and a good pen of Dorpers to $108/head. Heavy trade Dorpers $87 to $107/head and a line of 437 Merino lambs made to $114/head. Heavy lambs sold to cheaper trends $120 to $135/head and  extra heavy lambs to $150/head.   Heavy crossbred ewes made  to $72/head. A pen of heavy Merino wethers sold for $90/head. Heavy Merino ewes topped at $65/head.
